Woodruff Sawyer announced today that Dan Berry, Senior Vice President and Partner, has been named leader of the firm’s private equity and venture capital group. Mr. Berry joined the firm in 2011 and has specialized in the risk management and insurance needs of private equity and venture capital firms and their portfolio companies since joining Woodruff Sawyer.
“Dan is the ideal individual to lead this group,” said Bill White, Senior Vice President, Partner and Founder of Woodruff Sawyer’s venture capital liability practice. “I founded the practice to provide solutions to the complex risk issues facing venture capital firms, at a time when there were no other comparable risk specialists in the country. More recently, private equity has become a critical player in funding technology disrupters. The complexity of risk has only increased as VC and PE firms expand their appetite globally. Dan is experienced in providing a diverse range of effective, creative and cost-efficient solutions to our VC and PE clients wherever they are doing business. I am thrilled to see our succession plan come to fruition.”
Mr. White founded Woodruff Sawyer’s venture capital liability group in the late 1990s with Judy Roberts, Senior Vice President and Partner at Woodruff Sawyer. Both Bill and Judy continue to provide guidance and counsel to the firm’s venture capital and private equity clients.
“Bill and Judy have done an extraordinary job in building and growing this important practice group,” said Andy Barrengos, Woodruff Sawyer CEO. “This transition of leadership to Dan is something Bill and our leadership team have thoughtfully planned over the last few years. I’m thrilled that Dan, with his fellow team members located in our offices around the country, will continue the momentum that Bill and Judy created, while providing stewardship of the group’s reputation for excellence and creativity.”
