Jennifer Sharkey

Jennifer Sharkey is responsible for the strategic and tactical leadership of the practice area and oversees relationships and performance with clients, insurers, and centers of influence. She handles consulting, marketing, and negotiating coverages for directors’ & officers’ liability, general partnership liability, private equity/VCAP, fiduciary liability, fidelity, kidnap/ransom & extortion, employment practices liability, professional errors & omissions liability and cyber liability. Focusing on placements for complex risks on behalf of the Fortune 1000, Jennifer has a great deal of experience working with clients in the technology, manufacturing, retail and life sciences sectors. She serves on Gallagher’s Diversity and Inclusion committee. 

Jennifer began her career in 1990 and joined Gallagher in 2015 through a merger with William Gallagher Associates (WGA). Prior to WGA, she spent ten years at Willis’s FINEX Group (Boston and New York) as a senior vice president, where she received the Exceptional Performer Award several times. In this role, Jennifer was the executive risk practice leader for Willis’s New England Region. Before that, she worked for over four years as an assistant vice president at Marsh in the risk management practice. 

Jennifer interned with the United Nations in New York City, working with the World Conference on economic issues. She has published numerous articles on directors & officers liability and speaks frequently on various executive risk topics. 

Jennifer received a bachelor’s degree from New England College. She is a board member of The Bridge Transcends (a financial lines industry mentoring organization) and an advisory board member of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Private Equity CFO Association. Jennifer maintains a fellowship in the Council on Litigation Management. She is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriters Association and is a past board member of Families in Transition (an organization that assists homeless families). 

Jennifer is a volunteer for Boston Women’s Volunteer Network, The Junior League, Father Bill’s, and the American Cancer Society. She is a mentor for women in the financial lines sector internally and externally. Jennifer is the recipient of the Business Insurance Women to Watch Award in 2021 and the Gallagher Broker of the Year Award in 2018.
